MEMBRANE TECHNOLOGY: for brackish and saline waters


Water treatment plants equipped with membrane technology are especially conceived for the treatment of brackish or saline waters. The use of conventional water purification technologies (sieving, oxidation, filtration, etc.) is combined with membrane technologies (ultra/nano filtration and reverse osmosis). And this entire treatment process is built on structures similar to those of sea 20 or 40 feet containers.


This solution enables large treatment capacity and offers the end-user a quality of treated water that easily complies with the maximum pollutant limit values set out by the WHO.

The treatment line of this type of plants can be
equipped with the following technologies:

  • Pumping of raw water from the intake to the plant.
  • Initial roughing: first elimination of thick and floating particles through hydrocyclone, coarse screen, etc.
  • Initial oxidation for elimination of existing bacteria and algae in case of seawater.
  • Different filtration methods depending on the supply water (sand, cartridges, etc. )
  • Redox potential adjustment: for the elimination of excess chlorine.
  • Chemical treatment: dosing of acid and anti-foulants.
  • Fine filtration: 5μ mesh sieve.
  • High pressure pumps: for feeding the membrane modules.
  • Membrane modules: according to the origin of the water to be treated they can be ultra/nano filtration or reverse osmosis modules.
  • Post-treatments: chlorination or disinfection, pH adjustment and/or remineralisation.
